I have no clue how they determine the barcode of a product. hAVE the super smart people come up with a barcode for humans. I think it would make a great tat about the sixe of that annoying tag at the top of your jeans and my thong.
So, if anyone knows the formula for a personal barcode I have a feeling the goverment will come up with this idea someday. How cook would it be if it were us who came up with it.
work on it all you smart collage bound folks.

If that's what you want, make it something that's special to you. Don't use your social if you are including the numbers with the bars.
Try important dates, like anniversary, birth dates of your pets (if you have any), your firsts, like the first time you were on a date, or your first kiss. Your measurements, height, weight, bust, waist, hips, shoe size, dress size.
Try this:

It's cool, I just did mine! Fun little useless piece of information to have.

A personal barcode doesn't seem like a good idea. It isn't at all unique, despite being "personal." I've seen them on about 7 different goth kids, stupid. I'm sure you can think of something better that is more original. Also, as one of the "super smart people" working for the government, I can tell you that there are no barcodes for humans in our shipping and supply FEDLOG. A barcode is a combination of numbers that states the country in which an item is manufactured, the grouping of product-"plastic? paper?" etc. There is no barcode "formula" for humans. Also, if you do actually decide to get this lame tattoo, don't put your social security number on it. People can use it for identity theft.

The barcode isn't an actual universal "code". It's basically a computer remembering the sequence, and a person telling the computer what that sequence means. So if you took a product from Target to Wal-Mart, and the Wal-Mart's computers didn't recognize it (because they don't carry that product), it wouldn't do anything.

This is why some barcodes are long (like for computers), and others are really short.

So my suggestion is to just create a barcode sequence you like... or search for some barcode fonts at some sites and spell out your name... see if you like that sequence. :)

A friend of mine did a barcode tattoo years ago and used his social security number. It's on his wrist. He said he wanted to get a jump on the government.
