Interracial vs. same race marriages?

Do interracial marriages have the same chance of survival as same race marriages?

Interracial marriages face unique challenges such as the outside ignorance and pressure from other people. Interracial couples will find it more difficult to live in certain parts of the country where interracial marriages are less accepted and may find themselves discriminated against in things like jobs and housing, clubs and other social groups.

Chance of survival depends not so much on the challenges a couple faces, but on their own personal strength and commitment to each other and to their marriage. I think it depends, in part, too on their ability to be realistic about the challenges they will face and be prepared for and united in how they will face them.

Depends on the couple. Let's forget about the outside pressures or prejudice from other people for a minute. If there are big cultural differences, it would be an obstacle, especially if there are kids in the picture. I don't know if interracial marriages have the same survival rate as same race marriages but we have to acknowledge they face challenges that same race/culture couples never deal with. However, there's probably be less cultural difference if for example, the average white American married an ethnic person born in America rather than an immigrant.

Most imporatantly, couples of any race need common values if they are to be happily married for life.

There are probably some gov't statistics giving the marriage and divorce rates of interracial couples as compared to other couples. It's an interesting question. I do know that 67% of the births to minority couples (interracial is included in this statistic) are out-of-wedlock. And that interracial children have difficulty associating and assimilating with either races. They usually grow out of the taunting as they grow older.

Marriage is Marriage, interracial or same race, your gonna have issues over money, sex, kids, In-Laws, but on the other hand, your gonna have happiness, romance, sex, kids. It goes hand in hand. You are going to get the good, the bad and the ugly no matter the race.

I am in an interracial marriage and we have the same problems as any other relationship would. We have 2 beautiful children together. I really don't think it matters that much as long as you respect one another and love one another. Some people get nasty about it when they see you in the street. Sometimes they look at our children funny, but it really doesn't bother me because I know I am happy with him so I think interracial dating/marriage is great!!(I am white and my husband is black)We have been together for 6 years and still going strong!!!We have a great relationship and I wouldn't wish for anybody different.

Why not? The only time a problem will arise is if the couple can't accept and respect each other's cultural background. Otherwise, the marriage can still survive, provided the couple has the same values about marriage.

it's a good thing the govt does not keep such data
if they fail is becuase one or both of the parties are insecure about such things and as such do not focus on the marriage but rather on the fears of what other people think of them..
and thus are mentally weak ( and never should be married ot begin with.. interacial or not ). such people only try to fit in for society's / family / freinds sake and usally are not leader as they fear percieved risk
