4X-5
3-7x = 4 if we multiply both sides by the denominator we get

4X-5 = 4(3-7X) multiply this out
4X-5 = 12-28X then bring get rid of the -5 on left
4X=17-28X then get the X's on the other side
28X+4X = 17
32X = 17
X = 17/32

I don't know if this is right because but heck it has been fun and a long time since algebra.

Cowgirl: you've got to repost the question. You're missing a left parenthesis in your equation. Is it (4x-5)/(3-7x) = 4 or is it ((4x-5)/3-7x) = 4? Since the outer set of parentheses in ((4x-5)/3-7x) = 4 is unnecssary, you probably meant to write: (4x-5)/(3-7x) = 4; if that is the case then the answer is x = 17/32.
