Patriotism is taught by the left and the elites to be anachronistic of a bygone era. Well my friend it is not. You see the left is against patriotism because it means that we are loyal to the constitution and the bill of rights as well as America's founding principles. It is this chief loyalty and patriotism that makes us resist there turning us into a bunch of godless communists. The Elite teach you shame because they are so rich and powerful they consider themselves "transnationals" they have so much privledge and oppurtunity that they don't understand how much the rest of us need to be in a country that offers us the same thing. So yes, its uncool because the people that determine popular culture have a political agenda (MTVers that set hip trends are all lefties). Just remember just because an idea is popular doesn't mean it is right. Slavery was once a popular institution...but it has always been wrong. Patriotism is unpopular but that doesn't make it wrong. Stand tall and wave the flag and if you hold true to American princples we can survive the lefts communist agenda, the Islamic hordes, and the nihlism that causes us to embrace oblivion and moral uncertainty.

There are many people in high schools who love America, but are afraid to show it. At my University when the war first started, most of the students I spoke to in class and were friends with supported the President and still do, however, the ones who dislike America are also the most vocal about it. They made the America lovers feel like the minority because they were more vocal, but as some people spoke out for America, and against the protesters, many more were filled with American pride. If you are proud to be an American, let them know. Once you show your bravery, others will not be afraid to show how they feel.

its not weird, its wonderful....you have a lot to be proud of living here in the U.S. unfortunately you're right though its become the trendy thing to bash America and all that she stands for too bad the ones that are bashing her can't go to another country and see that there is no freedom of speech or expression or religion or anything else like that. saddam wouldn't even allow his people to disagree with him....can you imagine that here? we live in the greatest nation on earth and should be thankful for all that we have rather than whining about all we think we don't ....ask anyone living in iraq, china, korea or any other country. also ask those who disrespect America if its so bad why are all the others peoples copying us or wanting to come here. america has the largest immigrant population in the world and thats just the legals !

That is strange. No its not weird to love your country. And its not uncool to love your country.
If anybody says anything tell them to take a hike back where they came from. No matter what is going on with other countries, whether we are to be blamed or not, we the U.S.A. is still a super power and we are the best.. Why else are other countries so into wanting to be westernized and love or clothes, movies, etc....

Whats wrong with loving your country? Maybe if more people were taught the true meaning of America, and where it came from it would be a little easier to express it. Problem is these days we are too busy spending those precious school dollars on war and other places to teach our own people. Don't throw out your own feelings and love for out country based on a few who dont get it or understand it.

being proud of where you come from is good as long as it doesn’t block you out to seeing how great the rest of the world is like not many Americans leave America and that’s sad, I am scared by any one who loves their country to much, Italians are obsessed with Italy, Greek people are terrible, I mean England is great but I really want to live in shanghai, china one day just because its different, love difference as well as home

I think because we are at war- supporting our country to some may mean supporting the war. I also am very proud to be an American- but I am against the war. I'm sure it will be "cool" again to love America.

Apparently, some people like "justme" feel that you should only be proud of the US, and completely abandon your culture, your heritage, and your way of life, although you are in a free country to do as you wish. It is very cool to be proud of wherever you are from.

Because the American government doesn't always truly represent the people and therefore separates the people from the State. It's OK to love your country, but you don't have to be fanatical about it.
