they donate your money and my money to several worthy charities every year. heres a list:
the disadvantaged senators and representatives fund. this ensures that congressmen can afford to buy the fancy cars and lobster dinners that they need
the UN. this worthy charity keeps the dictators and tyrants of the world in power by swindling those no good peasants out of their small arms which they use to unjustly try to defend themselves with.
The foreign aid fund. this fund sens cold hard cash to communists, tyrants, fascists, dictators, and other authoritarian governments that hate the US and its people.
the golden parachute fund. this fund is for retiring congresmen so that they will have plenty of money for their long expensive retirements.
the moocher fund (welfare) this fund keeps the lazy bums of our nation fed and housed so that they will not have to put forth any effort to take care of themselves.
thats just a few of the charitable causes our government donates to. to continue this tradition of giving, simply vote democrat or republican in the next election. to be a scrooge, vote libertarian.

The US government contribution to charity is called the United Nations. We fund most of their costs, even though they call us evil and condemn us.
I do not want the government to give to charity. If they give, I cannot claim it as a tax write-off. If I do, I can.
As others have stated, the government is charity. We give so that they can fund welfare, unemployment insurance, grants to underdeveloped countries, etc. Isn't that enough?
What percent of your salary will you give to the government (not deductible) for them to give to others?

No. In a way they definetely are a charity though. They give humanitarian aid to all sorts of causes. Like the AIDS cause in Africa.

As much as i have disagreed with the current administration, they have tripled the aid to Africa. My understanding is that this goes into ending poverty: schools, hospitals and other social programs.
You could see that as a charity I guess.

depends on the country and its government. a lot of governments have corrupt leaders and officials that divert money to their own bank accounts.
