They usually give you an exam if they prescribed birth control for you....however if they havent the norm age is when you either started having sex or when you turn 18.

Good Luck and use your head!!!!

Usually 16 for a baseline but actually not until you plan to become sexually active. I'm surprised they didn't examine you before giving you birth control to make sure your cycle problem is truly hormonal and not physical. The should've felt for fibroids or cysts in addition to taking blood levels. A sonogram would not be out of the question for irregular cycles, too. All just to make sure because the Pill can have side effects -- why use medication if you don't have to...

Do not be embarassed; the doctor has seen all kinds and all ages, so yours will just be another one. Resist tensing up and relax. It feels weird but it's over quick. Remind the doc that you're a virgin so that the correct-sized speculum is used.

I am very surprised they gave you birth control without a pelvic exam. The first exam should be given at around age 18 or as soon as you become sexually active.

Don't be nervous about the exam. It's a little embarassing, but it's over really quick!

Most doctors won't give you birth control without doing a exam first. Where did you get yours from? The general rule is to start having them yearly when you turn 18.

What does having a pelvic exam have to do with being on the pill? I went on the pill to regulate my cycle at 16 and I never had a pelvic exam because of it.

Pregnancy: 1st Trimester
Questions to Discuss with Your Doctor:
Your age and how it will affect your pregnancy.

Have you been pregnant before? If so, what was the outcome of each pregnancy. Did you have a full-term pregnancy (your baby was born close to your due date)? Did you give birth via a vaginal delivery or a cesarean section ("C-section") surgery? If you had a C-section, what type of C-section was it? Did any of your pregnancies end in miscarriage, voluntary abortion, or an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy?

Does this pregnancy come at a good time for you?

When was the first day of your last menstrual period?

What is the usual length of your menstrual cycle?

Do you have any medical problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, asthma, tuberculosis, epilepsy, or heart disease?

Have you ever had any sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis, or human papilloma virus (HPV)?

Do any medical problems tend to run in your family such as sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, or hemophilia?

Are you taking any medications (including over-the-counter medications)? If so, what are they?

Do you smoke? If so, how many packs per day?

In an average week, how many alcoholic beverages do you consume?

Do you use any recreational drugs?

Did you have any problems getting pregnant?

Do you eat a well-balanced diet? Are you taking any vitamins, including folic acid (folate)?

What is your home situation like? Who do you live with? Is your partner supportive of this pregnancy? If not, has your partner hit or threatened you?

it should have been done before they put you on birth control. it will be done when you turn 18 or become sexually active which ever comes first

well i would hope that if you are of age (meaning you have a period) that for starters the doctor that put you on birthcontrol was smart enuf to give you one before he put you on it and second off you should have one every year regardless once you start your period.

and after you do become sexually active you should have yourself tested for STD's about every 3 months. even if you are only with the one person. (they might not be just with you)

and remeber when you have sex with someone you have sex with every person they have ever had sex with! kind gross huh.
