Envy is one of the seven deadly sins.

Do your own school work, do it well, and earn a good reputation.

Don't worry what someone else has going on.

First of all, do try not to envy her because she's your friend. Try instead to be happy for her, and if you want to be the "apple of the eye" of the teacher, maybe you can get something from observing that friend of yours. You may know what qualities appeal to other people that make her the "apple of the eye".

Jealousy is very destructive so try and fight it so that you can control it, rather than it controling you.
We often think that adults (parents and teachers especially) favor other people over us but this might be just an impression when we look from one point of view.
You could also be the 'apple of a teacher's eye' if you just continue working hard and generally trying to be a good and helpful person.

Then try to get on the teachers good side. I'm not saying bribe them, but do all your homework and stuff on time and try to always be prepared for class. Sometimes some of those kids that are teachers pets are really big nerds anyways, so I wouldn't be completely jealous of the 'friend'.

Just be yourself. Maybe she is smart and has a good disposition. Where I live teachers pick favorites for two reasons. ONe is what I just mentioned the other is because the parents have money or power. Which is your friend. I bet someone evys you for some reasons as well.

You should ask yourself what about her seems to be the teachers' favorite thing. If it's that she's creative or she's able to speak up and raise her hand, then you can work at trying to be like her. But if it's that she's docile or she's flirty or she's trendy, I would say it's better to be yourself and not pay attention to her success because her attributes are not worth trying to achieve.
