Alot of people wake at ungodly hours having had enough sleep and some actually get up and do weird things like vaccuming the living room or they do the ironing while the rest of the household sleeps so I guess that's the answer; you do your best work at these times so let the cogs rock and roll.

I too wake up automatically early in the morning. but I wake up at 3:15 every morning. Then I go back to sleep.
You have heard the the darkest hour is 3 or 4 in the morning?
They say if there is good or evil it is more existance at those darkest hours because its so peaceful and quiet.

Have you been drinking caffeine, especially late in the day? I used to have the same problem, and I was having caffeine around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. By the time I went to bed, the exhaustion of the day led me to sleep, but at 3 or 4 in the morning, I'd be wide awake.
I cut out the caffeine, and it didn't happen anymore.

Adequate work during the day for the brain, a good amount of exercise and not being harsh with people and being polite and courteous leaves one very tired when he goes to bed and also very clear of his mind to give a sound sleep. No disturbance at all for your sleep, may be others may complain you are soundly snoring during sleep.

i do the same thing 4 o clock on the dot almost, im usually sleep deprived and sometimes i nap out and sleep for just a bit. I think this affects sleep by making it normal to sleep fior so little. Stress is contributiing and possibly oversleeping can make you less tired during your norm sleep patterns.

You obviously have a lot on your mind. Perhaps telling yourself you will think about it in the morning (suggestions to the brain) will help.

it's probably stress, i do the same thing.
a good thing to do it so meditate, or just sit there, no noise, no sounds, just you. just think about this place, maybe your favorite vacation spot, or your favorite person, and just imagine yourself there. lay down and just close your eyes and just think about that place. right before you go to sleep. it helps me. i also exercise about 10 minutes before bed and i think about my place, then i sleep through the night.
