Earth Day is a name used by two different observances held annually in the (northern) spring, both intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth's environment. Earth Day is in the public domain and open to all persons to shape. Some grassroots Earth Day organizers seek to move the date of the observance to the Summer Solstice, to take advantage of the warm temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere (where most people live) to create greater participation

Earthday is a day to commerate, celebrate, promote, and encourage interest in the environment. According to the Columbia University Press encyclopedia, it is now observed in over 140 countries worldwide, with a focus on issues like global warming, deforestation, and pollution of our soil, water and air.

It's a day to take care of the earth, because some people can only give one day to their planet I guess.

Earth Day is to educate people about the environment.
It seems to me like anywhere you would go in California anyway, Earth Day was very well celebrated, especially in university towns.
But now as of late, I don't see it celebrated as much as before.
People are asleep, I think, about everything. They are relying on our government to decide for everything for us.

Haven't you heard? There will now be 31 days in all months that had 30. (Sept, April, June & Nov). and those 4 new days will be called earth day.
