Lord of the Rings, definitely. I've been a fan of Tolkien since I was about 8 years old. I never thought I'd live to see the day a technology would be developed that would make it possible to film the book. I rejoice that I was wrong.
Star Wars: The first movie, #4 for reasons that remain unclear, was awesome. The next two were not as good, but still watchable. The final three were downright embarassing. Can anyone tell me why Anakin and Amygdala MARRIED? There was enough chemistry between the players to have justified possibly a wild weekend at the No-Tel Motel, but Marriage? C'mon.
Peter Jackson by contrast did an outstanding job on LOTR in my NSHO. The three-part movie will be a monument of cinematic art when all of us are dead and forgotten.
This is all my opinion, of course, as any answer to that question must be.
De gustibus non disputandam est.
Thank you.

Star Wars, i thought that they dragged out Lord of The Rings too much, but that's just my opinion

Lord of the Rings, without question.
All three films were nominated for Best Picture.
Tolkien created a wonderful world, and Peter Jackson brought it all to life in magnificent fashion.

I prefer Lord of the Rings, it is full of good looking people and gorgeous scenery. Plus the action and magic are unbelievable.
