Well, in certain countries they give female names to typhoons, it's because they say women are unpredictable, just like the weather. Moody, can be very destructive.

The bad ones have only had female names because the gals have had a 30 year head start.

And it's only a coincidence that the bad hurricanes recently have had women's names.

And if the NHC was doing its job properly last year, Tropical Storm Katrina would have been a minimal tropical storm around Mexico and Hurricane Lee would have been the storm that everybody would have been talking about. They missed a subtropical storm last year that should have been named.

BTW, my name is Lee and I really wanted a strong storm to share my name :(

Hurricanes:

Juan
Floyd
Charlie etc etc.

Not really

Those are just off the top of the head.

Technically, there are 13 girl names and 13 boy names.

If a hurricane is named a girl "a" name

(Alicia)

The next HAS to be a "b" name, and it has to be the opposite sex.

(Bob)

They are not...they are named for a man one time, a female the next. I guess your theory can work both ways.

Actually, the names are 50% female, 50% male, so your theory is wrong. http://kids.earth.nasa.gov/archive/hurricane/names.html
