Well, the reason this is seen as a bad thing to do is because people used to be hanged from tall ladders when a gallows was not nearby and walking under the ladder would envoke the spirit of the evil person who was hanged there or vengeful ghost of the person hanged there without crime committed.

It's a superstition, that started off as common sense - if there was a man on a ladder painting who happened to drop his tin of paint as you walked under that'd be fairly bad luck

Its superstisian.. They say if you walk under a ladder it will bring you bad luck..
Just like they say breaking a mirror will bring you 7 years bad luck!

he old saying never walk under a ladder is bad luck is becuase the one who made it up in old folklore days did walk under it and got hurt lol superstitions some are true tho.

It is a Christian believe that you not walk through anything that has 3 points to it for you are breaking the trinity. Personally I don't do it because as you pointed out, it is dangerous.

Because its bad luck. My mom died 3 days after I walked under one. She was expected to be released from the cancer care center of the hospital the very same day that she died.
Took me about 2 years to stop blaming myself.
