Get him one of those guardian angel pins that he can put in his car.
Or you can give him a "prayer cloth", just take a piece of cloth, and while holding this cloth in ur hands say a prayer for the Lord to keep him safe at all times and have your boy friend to keep it with him.

I don't know how religious you's are,but some kind of neck chain with a cross,different religions have different types. Just an idea.
