Ok sooo this is kind of a queer question but oh well so ever since I started taking birth control l have gained like ten pounds and I don't want to stop taking it but I have been working out and dieting and I still gain weight and I don't need to gain anymore weight its sort of making me mad so I guess what I'm asking is whenever you started taking birth control if you gained weight how much and how long did you continue to gain weight?

No, go on another pill. People have different effects on pills. I gained 20 lbs and thought the same thing that i cant stop takeing it, but as soon as my doc put me on another kind, i lost 30 lbs! Estrostep is awasome cause it has acne medication in it also. But it is known that it decreases weight more then increased. So i lost 10 lbs of my origional weight and maintained it quite well and im happy with my skin and body! YAY!

Weight gain is a common side effect of using hormonal forms of birth control. It is caused by an increase in appetite, and easier fat deposition due to the increase in homones. Women will average a 10 Lb. gain in weight during the first year of use. The weight comes off easily after the use of this type of birth control has been discontinued.

You didn't specify what you are taking, but my recommendation is that if the weight gain is bothering you, then after your cycle has completed, ask your Health Care Provider about switching to Nuvaring or Ovcon, and see if they work for you a little better.

This is not intended as medical advice. Always consult with your Physician or Health Care Provider before making any medical decisions.

This is a common problem in Female, you should go back to your doctor and explain your worries about weight. He or She may have to change the dosage or switch your type of birth control.

Also it could be that your body is just changing and it is a coincidence that your weight gain came at the same time your pill taken was started. Nah, I think not.... Go see your Doc.

I gained 10-12 pounds over the first 3 months.
Here's a question for you? Do we know each other?

The pill always makes a girl gain weight and will continue to gain weight as long as you are on it!! May be you want to consider other types of contraceptive methods (IUD, Spermicide, condoms, etc.). Best wishes!~

I think the pill has some effect on your metabolism, when i started taking it i gained a couple pounds, and found it rather difficult to loose. Ask your doctor if he/she is sure that the pill you are on is right for you. After a while your body will get used to it. I wish you luck with it, and remember us women are super tuff, we can get over almost anything,.

IT DEPENDS ON THE DOSAGE AND WHAT KIND YOU TAKE. I HAVE TRIED ABOUT 3 DIFFERENT ONES AND DID GAIN WITH ONE WHICH I DON'T REMEMBER BUT IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG TO GAIN IT. THE ORTHO NOVUM, HIGH DOSE, WAS THE BEST FOR ME AS FAR AS WEIGHT GAIN WENT. I TOOK IT FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. THERE WAS ONE THAT MADE MY FACE BREAK OUT TERRIBLY, I THINK TRYCYCLENE. WITH ORTHO I WAS CLEAR AND STAYED AT A DECENT WEIGHT. IT MIGHT TAKE A LITTLE TIME TO FIND THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOU, DON'T GIVE UP TOO SOON! GOOD LUCK!

You should tell your doctor that you are gaining weight and they will give you a different sort of BC to try, not everyone reacts the same way to every type of birth control.
Have you thought of any different forms? such as the implant or the injection? well speak to your doctor or a nurse about it. good luck.
