The hamsters were always in the cage, but the cats and them got along so good that today I left the cage open now the hamsters have run away. How do you find a lost hamster?

When I was little and my hamsters escaped I would put food and a their wheel by suspicious looking areas in the house and listen for them. For some reason they could not resist running on the wheel and the metals ones make a squeaky noise. One of their favorite places was in the couch and I would take one of the tunnels from the cage and stick it into the corner of the couch and out they would pop. Seems they can't resist any of the things they are familiar with.
If you have no luck maybe you could get some no kill traps like for mice and put some food in them and see if they climb on in.
I also agree your cat probably wouldn't have ate the hamster only chomped a little so if you don't find any pieces I agree they are still alive.

How could you be so stupid?
That sounds harsh, but seriously. Leaving it open around cats and then wondering where they went? Shame on you! What a terrible owner.
My hamster went missing this morning, but it was because he pushed the cage open himself, not because of our mistake.
All I can tell you, is to put 5 of his favorite treats around the house in every room, and just wait for him to show up. Check in a few hours and see if there are 4 or less left, because that means he stopped by.
It'd be best to search at night, he's probably sleeping.. Or something fatal, but thats a terrible thing to think about.
Good luck, I hope you've learned your lesson..

Ummmmm... You sure your cat didnt EAT them????

Otherwise, you could take some hamster treats and give the rodents a little trail to follow back to the cage... like spread them out in little lines... but dont go too far away from the cage, and dont let the cats eat the treats.

haha I bet the cat knows but won't tell. We lost a hamster once then checked a sticky mouse trap a day later and there the hamster was pulling itslf along with its bottom half stuck.

Leave a trail of their favorite food into a box. We have retrieved several hamsters that way. (Ok, one hamster several times!)Of course it depends on how large your home is, and how many opportunities the hamsters have to hide in the walls etc, but you may find them.

watch your house for hamster droppings and also plug up any small holes they may be able to get into also check the cat to make sure it hasn't eaten the hamster

Looks like they may play together, with your cat ending up with the full stomach. From your picture, you're having a lot of fun (stoned) watching you cats (whom I adore) eating your hampsters.

So sorry for your pets. Just go get stoned & ignored them summore and maybe someone with finally call the humane society on you.

Urp.

You might check RichardGeer.com. I think hamsters are related to gerbils.
