We are one with the universe. It is only our arrogance and pride that makes us feel separate from God and the universe that surrounds and suffuses us.
If we sit quietly and pay attention, we can see that we are part of a greater whole.

These are not mutually exclusive. Our bodies are one with the totality of material elements -- the universe, yet so long as the spirit spark is there, the body maintains a separate 'identity'. When the spirit spark leaves the body, the body again mixes with the elements and ceases to be separate.
The soul itself is one in quality with the Supreme Lord, yet we are individuals with our own eternal identity. Just as a drop of sea water has the same quality as the whole ocean, we are one in quality with the Supreme Lord. But we are different at the same time because we are His energy and He is the energetic source.

It depends on if you are speaking spiritually, soulishly, or physically.
Physically, of course, we are separated by our skins. Even a baby in it's mother's womb is separate from his mom--their blood never even touches mixes in food transfer.
Spiritually...Our spirits were made to be connected primarily to our Creator. When spirits of people are connected to the Creator in worship (which is sometimes in a church, sometimes in private meditation while in prayer or at work) then they are part of a whole network, a spiritual household.
But soulishly? I am still questioning about what the Bible teaches, but from personal evidence I am leaning towards saying souls can be connected when the bodies are miles apart. The Bible talks about Jonathan and David's souls being knit together, but that might mean they were just really good friends. It might be dangerous (not sure, maybe I am just wisely cautious until I know more) to TRY to communicate with someone's soul at a distance. Could you end up contacting a deceptive demon who was trying to mess with your soul? I'd definitely not mess with calling up dead people. But people in Heaven with God MIGHT be able to (even if it's indirectly, through an angel) send comfort or advice to people still on earth.
Praying hard for people could be called connecting with their souls. You try to find out what they need, what you know or suppose their souls might be crying out to God for, and you hold them up to God in your mind's eye, the way you'd carry an ailing child to the doctor.
And with the whole universe, with all? All our actions have impact.

i feel that there is inter connection between each & every things in the world.& ultimately we cannot live without each other. just even if see in a broader sense we cannot live without air , water , & food. don't you think we completely depending on the nature then ? even the nature is depending on us. otherwise it would not have faced the situation which it is facing today. it is because of this link the world is being here. we cannot be separated from all but at the same time we r not one. each & every creature in this earth has its own identity.that is the greatness in the god's creation. univercity in divercity.

We are each of us distinct entities both physically and intellectually. We can associate well with others when we understand the requirements life imposes on our unique individual needs and the requirements we all share as a species. Mutual understanding and respect for ourselves and each other provides us with options we would not otherwise be able to enjoy by ourselves.
It is our ability to understand and appreciate what reality has to offer and to integrate with and conform to the reality in which we live, on its terms, which provides us with the benefits this has to offer. It is our understanding of ourselves, each other and the reality in which we live that makes successful integration possible and profitable for us all.

We are both, though always physically connected the human emotion allows for disassociation on a level neither understood by anyone nor understood by ourselves at that moment.

We are connected, skippybuttknuckle, you and me, Sleek. We are one, we are just disobedient to the laws of human nature because 1. we're much too shy for our own good. 2. we are fearful of what is different from ourselves 3. sorry, I forgot the other one. It's past my beddy-bye buttknuckle. Nighty night.

There is no separation between "us" and everything around "us". Though we percieve there to be. human perception is very odd. yet it's something we all have and each one of ours is different, which causes thoughts of separation, yet "we" are not separated at all. When one realizes there is no separation may true happiness and enlightenment occur for all.

As the Dalai Lama said at McDonald's, "Make me one with everything."
Just kidding, but I suspect we are. Everthing we do seems to have wide reaching effects, if you think it through.
