Two versions exist.
The one version claims that Booth's last words were "Useless, useless", after he stared at his hands.
The other version suggest that he said "Sic Semper Tyrannis" or "Thus always to tyrants" but not when he died but previously when he jumped from Lincoln's box to the stage of Ford's Theater.

"Sic Semper Tyrannis" (Thus always to Tyrants) which is the state motto of Virginia and "Virginia is avenged!" As a Civil War historian, I've researched this quite a bit. There were several eyewitness accounts that differed slightly in content but those two phrases were the most recurrent in the accounts. The phrases weren't spoken to Lincoln specifically, but to the audience in Fords Theater.

Booth's last words were said to be "Useless, useless." Some have attributed to him "Sic Semper Tyrannis" or "Thus always to tyrants" after he lept from Lincoln's box to the stage at Ford's Theater, apparently breaking his leg in the process.

John Wilkes Booth made a strange request. He asked that his hands be lifted up so he could see them. This was done. He stared at his hands for a moment and mumbled, "Useless, useless." Then he died

"Sic Semper Tyrannis" - "Thus Always to Tyrants"

This slogan has become somewhat of an American extremist slogan (ie) Timothy McVeigh wore a t-shirt with these words on it the day he blew up the federal building in Oklahoma City in1995
