Your question is a generalization, but yes, people are generally that way. Morality is a high maintenance item. You can walk your whole life as a shining example, then one little slip and POOF, it’s all gone.

I think you may be leaning too much on the negative and giving less credence to the positive. A simple study into the "good" workings of mankind will reveal that his 'actions and behavior' that seem amoral are duly overwhelmed by the good, or moral, ones. Go to a local soup kitchen or community service facility near you, where the only employees are volunteers, and the only "clients" are needy people.
Besides, people aren't taught morality - they have to see that it is a viable, tangible quality. Then, superceding pride, they change their views on "all of humanity", even though they have only experienced a fraction of it.
Don't be down on people. They are who they are, and there will always be 1) one rotten apple in the barrel, and 2) an exception to every rule.
What man DOES pretend to be, is the champion of his own destiny. If only he knew how many forces were working on him that he knows nothing about. Humility and pride CAN walk together, hand-in-hand, as long as the center of it all is relenquished (given up).
Granted, there are a lot of amoral things man does, but a lot of them are only amoral from one perspective. Remember, to be judgmental, you must see 100% of both sides of the story.
That, in itself, is a daunting task.

We try but noone is perfect, thats part of who we are and how we're made. People do have morals though, i disagree with you here. People with morals live all around you, maybe you are to drowned within your own low moral ethics, but take a look around. Why are there charities? Why are there people willing to go to other countries to help 3rd world countries. Does this mean that investing billions of dollars per year or building thousands of schools and houses is pretending. Maybe you should consider some missionary work or get some new friends.

Man pretends to be nothing less or more than what he truly is....There can be no moral standard for a man or woman whom choses evil over good...Those who chose the wrong way do not see it as wrong , but only as the "normal" worldly standard, therefore they cannot be something they are not...Man can never be perfect, but he can make right decisions based on a universal common; all beings pretend to do what they think to be right, but their culture 9 times out of 10 dictates their final presidence.

I think it's because they are just selfish, what ever it takes to make them happy. Sometimes they want to make an impression on someone, or they feel they should be a good person, but they don't have the "willpower" (since I'll probably be reported for saying ba*ls) to stand up and say no when they are faced with temptation. BUT - they want their women to really say no, just not to them...go figure.

OOPS, I thought you said men, not man, well, so I'm 1/2 way there. Women, they just want people to think they are better than they really are. And sometimes, I don't even think they realize that they are pretending, but they are only fooling themselves, God has a good grip on whos for real.

Life is about pretence...we pretend to be what we think others expect....Most society expects us to be a close faximily to what god wants...that defenition of morality. Mankind is inherintly evil. We are born from mischief we explore while young with mischief it graduated to vandalism then in adulthood it becomes full blown destruction of others in the persuit of happiness.
Society reels us in keeps us in check thats why people go nuts...they have no resistance to this they cant stand being held back. Those who live moral kooth lives are yearning to come out and "play"
Thats why you see 60 year old teachers molesting...40 yearold doctors with kiddy porn...Midlife crissis tht ends in some kind of illegal or "imoral" act.

If you're clumsy and trip a lot, that doesn't mean you can't walk.

If you occasionally get sick that doesn't mean you aren't generally healthy.

If you hit a few wrong keys and make a few typos, that doesn't mean you aren't a good typist.

If people do immoral things but that doesn't mean man is "pretending" to be moral... it means that man is moral with unfortunate bouts of immorality.

You are a man. There are very few women that behave such a way in comparison to men. What are your thoughts? It's your gender. Have a great day.
