I'm not sure you have the equation written correctly.

If it is then multiply both sides by x and getting all to the left you have:
7x^2-10x-5=0
you have a quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0
whre the roots are x1= (-b+sqrt(b^2-4ac))2a
x1=(10+sqrt(100+140)/14
x2= (-b-sqrt(b^2-4ac))2a=
x2=(10-sqrt(100+140)/14

Just do the math and have fun.

x=5

First you need to cancel out the fraction, so multply 5/x on both sides. The 5/x will be canceled on the one side, leaving this:

7x - 6 (x/5) = 4

Then add the 6 on both sides to get the x's on one side and the numbers on another.

7x (x/5) = 10

Then solve the rest.

ok, i don't have batteries in my graphics calculator, I got to
multiply both sides by X
7x^2-10x-5=0
When I plugged in your answer, I didnt get an equation either....
I have totally forgot how to solve what I came up with, but maybe its different than what you got. Perhaps you could school me on how to solve this...

7x - 6 = 5/x + 4
x(7x - 6) = 5 + 4
7xx - 6x = 9
x = 9
