no, you would eventually dig a whole into the mantle and you would casually burn to death in magma :)

well, in theory it is possible... there are only a few obstacles...

- there is nothing that can dig deeper than a few miles down, as it gets too hot and the heavier duty drills melt

- if you could dig down, long before you had to worry about molten magma or the core, the pressure, lack of oxygen, and temperature would kill you

- if you managed to bypass the above problems, at some point, you would hit some molten rock and create a flash volcano, which would kill you and anyone around for miles

- if you somehow survive the volcano, you have to clear the path again, as the hole would have served as the main outlet for the lava and would therefore the pretty well plugged.

- once you do that, then you need to worry about getting through the hottest part of the mantle, and then the core.... the outter part of the core is liquid, so guess what? another volcano....

- once you have cleared this other volcano and head down, you may find that the solid core, now that some of the pressure is off may start to liquify (yep, you guessed it, volcano again)
and you're only half way there... need i say more?

I Believe! or at least I want to Believe!
When I was 3, my grandmother told me to stop digging in my sand box soooooo deep. (I was bringing up dirt) She said if I dug deep enough I would reach China. Well, that was enough for me, since I was an only child, I needed a playmate. I dug all day long in hopes that a little Chinese girl would pop her head up and I would pull her through the hole so we could play together .... and just maybe I could go back down and visit her.... My friend did not appear and I was very disappointed... so I guess it is not true. Or maybe, she just wasn't playing outside that day.

NO. you would have to dig around the planet far enough above the magma core not to get burned to do that. That's straight down until it starts to get quite warm and then follow the curve until you are under China and then dig straight up to reach the surface again.

Why not? As long as your body could withstand the magma at the center of the earth its clear sailing from there

Magma and hot lava are at the center so have fun burning up. Did you ever take science class?
