Today as many of you know, an arrest was made in the Jon Benet Ramsey case which is a decade old.
For the longest, the asumption was perpetuated in the media that the parents had killed theiir own daughter - which is obviously now recognized as untrue.

furthermore, plenty of innocent defendants have been destroyed in the media before they have even had their trials on rape charges, murder charges, etc.... when DNA evidence knowledge became technlogicaly proficient, science proved the prosecution was wrong - over 500 cases have been overturned by DNA evidence.

YET the media insisted, these people were guilty and sewed seeds in the minds of watchers. This media takes the form of JOKES, conjecture and unfounded circumstancial evidence".

DO YOU FEEL THAT TRIAL BY MEDIA IS A DANGER TO SOCIETY?

I do...personally, I look at cases like OJ, Michael Jackson, Robert Blake, and many others where the media hooplah is strongly against them from the start with SUSPICION and contempt

Trial by media is very dangerous. Not only is it occurring in the cases that you wrote about, it is also happening to property owners who have their property taken in eminent domain in situations where the media and the government falsely describes their neighborhood as being "blighted." I attended a recent conference at UCLA about the wrongly convicted. I listened to the true "horror stories" of many of the people who had been released after having been wrongly convicted. I have experienced both eminent domain abuse and the wrongful conviction of someone close to me, as an adjunct of the eminent domain: The victim in most instances has no way to get the true story told, so the politicians and the media prevail. Therefore, I personally plan to create more websites and to create radio programs that address these issues in order to get the true stories told.

It does happens unfortunately. Look at the McMartin trials. They were a family that owned a daycare and were accused of molesting the entire daycare. Their lives were shredded but it wasn't just the media that did it. However, when you make the case against the people who you have listed, the problem was their ACTIONS, rather than the media, is what convicted them. In the name of the Jon Benet, the parents refused to let the police interview them. Why? It stymied the entire investigations. In the case of OJ, he was driving his SUV on the highway while followed by a bunch of police cars with a gun to his head. Hid blood was also found at the scene. Why? Micheal Jackson was found guilty by the media for child molestation. Why? Because he paid a child THIRTEEN MILLIONS DOLLARS to hush up about it. It does give you pause for thought. Thank god for DNA testing. I'd hate to think of those poor souls still in jail. Very good question.

Yes, we're supposed to be gauranteed the right to be assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Media pressures turns a high profile case into something as devoid of meaning and integrity as a high school election. It's all about spin and popularity.Look at the lacrosse case, that was a media zoo from day one. oj and michael might have gone the other way had their not been so much fear of looking racist in the media. the blonde pig sleeping with her student in florida got away playing up to the media, and richard jewel became a joke because he was profiled by the media, even though he did nothing but his job. when it comes to court, the media should be locked out during the proceedings like they do in europe. I wouldn't want my life ruined because of how I looked on tv, id want my fair day in court.

yes media is a danger to criminal cases.... however your examples are terrible! How about the " monkey trials" or " Row vs.. Wade." ?? There is more to the statement than look at this." We the People" stand as a group .... not as one on one... this is AMERICA ! The overview of who did this or that is not to be judged by one or two.......but , by an imparcial group of our peers! If you do not like " Policy" change it! Our system is not, by a long shot ...." perfect" but...if you think " you" can do better......run for office....take a stand , believe in what you say and do, and by God , hang on to your *** cause baby yer gonna get a beating! Is foolish to talk smack about the " system" if you do not intend to do something about it! Be intelligent about this...... take the stand of " show me the truth or not" with wisdom maybe ......just maybe you can be pure enough to judge another! BTW, I don't care if you like my answer..... what is ...simply .. IS!
