Hamas: The establishment of palestine with east jerusalem as its capital. Previously, one of their goals was to destroy israel, however, the president mahmood abbas coaxed hamas into signing "the prisoners bill" which explicitly stated that israel is to be recognised by hamas.

Hezbollah: They were set up to stop the Israeli invasion of 1982. They also want a free state of palestine as well as the Shebaa farms ( a territory of lebanon occupied by israel) and the Golaan heights back. Hezbollah does not recognise Israel and believes to be an illegitimate state created by the west in an area which belongs to muslims.

Your question should be what do Israel and the US want with Lebanon? You do realize that what happen there would be the equivalent of this scenario:
The black panthers group in the US take 2 Canadian Solders. Then Canada with the help of say China start bombing all major US cities demanding that their solders be return. We're talking taking out apartment buildings killing entire families. How stupid and outrageous is that?
Why the hell would Israel bomb the country because of a right wing group in that country? Hamas has regional aspirations -- to rule over the Land of Canaan.

Hezbollah is a proxy for Iran and wants everybody to convert to Shia Islam and for Qom, Iran to be the center of the universe.

It gets far more complicated than that, but that's a start.

You know I am amazed that this question since they keep announcing it. They were both formed with a number one order of business "Eradicate the state of Israel". They have adopted other causes so to get the worlds good will but they strive to attain that first and foremost goal.

It's hard to tell. Sometime they seem to just attack just to scare Israel. Other times, like recently, they carry out an assault and get what they want. Officially, they stand for eradication of Israel. Let's hope they just accept Israel as fact though, and ask the UN for what they think they deserve...

When Israel kills the innocentish civilians, the hatred for Israel grows and the power of these organizations is increased exponentially.
