Mac OSX comes with a firewall, but if you want additional protection just to be safe, I use a freeware called ClamXav.
You are spared from spywares (at least that I know of), and only a couple of known viruses aimed at OSX.
However, since they don't affect us doesn't mean that you are free from trouble. Even though, it doesn't catch one, it can accidentally receive and pass it onto your server.

I'm not familiar with Macs, but it must have a help button. If you have WindowsXP, click on start, Settings, Control Panel, and see if you have an icon for Firewall.
You absolutely should have firewall on and McAfee or Norton antivirus. Be careful not to load two firewalls because they will fight each other and give you problems when you try to install programs.

Yes Mac's are the best computer's for various reason's but you still need the protection. The computer isn't invinsible. So invest in the programs..

What you need to do is get rid of the mac and buy a pc. Because macs are stupid and useless. Pc are awesome and fun. If you need help finding a pc I recomend alienware.
