I really don't think kids have changed that much over the years i just think that parenting has. Now daysparents just dont spend the time with their kids that they used to. Talking to our kids, sharing our experiences including our mistakes and success is the only way to go. Kids do stuff to either get attention, coz they are bored, coz they dont know better or coz they are hurting. If you make sure your kids are none of these things you will have great kid and a great relationship. And trust me the theory works... i have 4 children ranging in ages from teenagers right down to a toddler and none of them are violent or dissresectful and we all have a great relationship and friendship... all im sayin is dont write off all teens because of a few bad parentin mistakes.

There is no definitive answer to your question, however there are many and varied causes related to individual aggression, some stem from boredom and frustration, others from alienation or domestic violence. We live in a time of "consumerisation", the must have everything that opens, shuts and closes, children today are raised on copious amounts of video games, movies, fashion rather than sport, open spaces, reading and community. The more technologically advanced we become, the more isolated and insular the individual is........ I believe it is a time thing, society is adjusting and kids feel the pressure. The book of Revelations in the christian bible mentions "the quickening", maybe this is it.

Because there is a generation of growing up without the parents constantly on their asses like it was from the 50s-80s. This generation, i like to call the "time-out" generation doesn't respect it's elders nor do they feel we have anything to teach then because they "know" it all, when in reality they know nothing. Make them start helping bills in the house example give them the smallest monthly bill in the house and have them pay half of it or a %. Make them get up way before noon when summer vacation comes around and do something to earn money like yard work or neighborhood trash cleaning. I feel this generation is wandering around lost because we as parents are not making them responsible for their actions. stop slapping them on their wrists with empty threats and follow thru with what u say u r going to do.

Bad parenting, dysfunctional family's. Young people are desensitized to violence after seeing so much on TV and the movies. Now video games are violent. Parents who beat their children instead of teaching them by example. The prisons are full of people who got whippings when they were growing up it takes more than a beating to teach a child.

But i don't know why they could hurt there own families I know I would never do that

first of all you have to look at the way our world is today, with the war going on and how high tech businesses keep firing people so that they can make there millions. Youth today see that they have no future. Only the hunters win, if you are a hunter then you will survive.

My theory - violent TV and video games. Everything's a game. Kids that live in perfectly peaceful homes see it on TV every day. It's been proven that violent TV makes children violent.

Up-bring! Modern people believe in love education, unlike parents in the past use violent to discipline their children. But funny, children become more violent when their parents don't use violent on them.

Lack of parental supervision, non disciplined up-bringing, no morals, no values, God not in their lives, And in the inability to comprehend the word "no". Where do you want me to start honey? We live in a "feel good" world and as long as we continue to want things our way and our way only, and do just about anything to get it, the vicious cycle is going to continue. They claim to be generation "X", I consider that to be generation "x-tra BS". Parent's seriously need to do their jobs.
