The Quilter's Cache is my favorite website for finding free block patterns. She has a huge (1,100+) collection of blocks, both traditional and original, with detailed instructions and illustrations. There are three bear paw variations (links below). If you click on the link in her website to the last page of instructions, she even provides an example of the finished quilt.
