The answer is -2.
Just do the sign math with the subtraction at the same time. Look at it like this, as it is said,
minus 6 minus a minus 4 = ?
Any time you have a minus a minus something you have a postive something, so lets rewrite again as,
minus 6 plus 4 = minus 2
We can look at this as a number line problem, say you start out at a minus 6 and add 4 (go to the right on the number line 4 units) and end up at minus 2. Or you can rewrite the problem like this,
minus 6 plus 4 = positive 4 minus 6 = minus 2

-6-(-4)=?

A common dilemma in this day and age. How has it come to pass such that such a simple problem has been posted on Yahoo Q&A? Is the public so indoctrinated to the fact that if they look on the internet answers will magically fall into their hands? Is our youth so lazy that they cannot do a math problem on their own? What happened to parents? I dread to think of the state of nations when a young one goes to the heartless computer before their parents.

Or.....

Why test people? Is there a point to giving a problem in hopes that someone will not be able to answer it correctly? This may very well provide insight into the human psyche. One who posts this may get joy from knowing that they were able to stump the masses. This sense of superiority will only add to the ego of people today. We need to stop feeding our egos and focus on helping others in a way without the middle man of technology.

When will the pointless banter end and people will talk to other humans instead of words on a screen?!

The answer is 0. There is no -6 or -(-4). Only little grains of red, green, and blue in our computer screens with the hues set to their darkest.
