first of all, this is one of those loop earring and it is in the cartilage of my ear. i just can't figure out how to get the ball to uncrew. is that even how it works? the earring is just a loop with one ball on it and seems like the ball needs to be slided over to get it off. it seems like it is turning each direction, but never seems to move. is there a trick to it or something? anyway, any advice would help. thanks.

You should probably have a friend help you because you can't see wht's actually going on with it.You don't want to rip your ear!

I believe this type of earring is hollow and there is a wire going through the ball (earring post) which has a hole in it. grasp the ball which is butting up on the ear and the other side of the ear, it should just pull apart, do not pull too hard or else you will bend the earring forever.

This happened with one of my eyebrow rings once. I even tried pliers- it didnt work! I got so fustrated trying to do it, I fiddled around with it for an hour and finally got it. If it is one of those captive-bead hoops that has the bead in the middle, you are supposed to pull on one of the sides of the hoop (and hold the other side) until the little ball pops out, then you can take off the ring

Ouch...why did you leave an earring in for a whole year? That alone is probably your problem, you have to take out your earrings and clean every once in awhile. Grab a friend and try to have them get it out, because you can't see what you're doing.
