sounds like the fuel pump
have someone stand near the rear of the truck and switch the ignition on, but don't try to crank it, they should be able to hear the pump switch on to prime the system. It will only be a momentary noise, perhaps 1-2 seconds.
if there is no sound, the pump is probably not working.
on the 94 model, the pump can be replaced by itself-the parts are about $75, but I recommend replacing the whole assembly--that is about $125, but is better in the long run and easier to install. Labor costs depend on your mechanic.

there is a MAP sensor on that engine--it should be on the driver side of the engine on the side of the intake manifold-the sensor is about $75
replacement of it is easy

YES it does have a MAP sensor. That year 4.0 hadn't yet gone to a MAF. It is back on the firewall near the heater box. Look to see that the vacuum hose hasn't fallen off, or broken (had it back-fired before it quit?).
Try to LIGHTLY tap the sensor while someone else is trying to start it. Be certain that the electrical connector is not loose.
What other codes were there? Anything related to SPOUT or PIP?
That vehicle is all computer controlled, and there are a myriad of sensory inputs which tell the computer what is going on with the engine and the computer makes decisions and issues commands. Any one of the sensors or actuators or electrical slaves can stop it from running.
If you are going to try to repair it yourself, draw ALL of the codes and go the repair manual for both definitions and repair strategy.
If the scanner tells you that there is a problem with the MAP sensor, it means that there is a problem identified in that circuit, not necessarily with the component. That is why the repair strategy is so important. It will save you untold dollars and time wasted chasing irrelevant rabbits!
Good Luck

Could be lots of things:

Out of gas
Starter motor failure
Dead battery

None are very expensive to remedy.

You lost spark, or fuel. Check fuel presure and spark.

you need a fuel pump. or did someone put something in your gas tank that would clog your injectors?
