I have an brand new iPod Video, and the USB cord it connects with to the computer is version 2.0. My USB port only adapts to version 1.0, so when I connect it I end up with a pop-up that says it won't run as fast. Then when I go to iTunes, and try File >> Update iPod, it's greyed out so I can't do that.

Is there any way to update songs to my iPod in this condition? If there's software needed, how experienced do you have to be to install it?

I would suggest buying a USB 2.0 Card available at your local walmart for about $20.00. you are pretty much wasting your time with anything else. You can get things trough onto the ipod, but a lot of it's functionality is lost.

Ipods can work with any USB port. My computer is pretty old and has a USB 1.0 and it still runs fine, just ignore the little pop-up. This is how you put songs on your ipod. You open up i-tunes and you drag the songs from the location you have them (ex. My Music, Limewire, ect..) to the playlist that you want them to be in. Then, they should upload to your ipod.
