How much tension is on kickdown cable on a 350 transmission?

There should be a half moon "button" on the cable at the Carb. Push it in and that releases the preset tension... then stomp the gas peddle to the floor. That should get you really close.

This transmission uses this cable for forced downshifts only. Other GM transmissions use this cable to control pressure thru out the entire throttle range. A 350 cable should only work at WOT, therefore you should have some slack in the cable past where it connect to the carb. Try adjusting it as mention in the previous answer, but remember, it only works at WOT.
