Cell phone, I take it.
Is the phone through a plan?
Dropping the phone in water will void the replacement clause, in the contract.
Open up the phone. Do you see a red dot? Your phone has been damaged by moisture. Remove the sim card. Let the phone thoroughly dry out. Put everything back together. If the phone still does not work. Open it back up and remove the sim card again.
Buy a go-phone(cingular). Put the sim card from the original phone in the new one. It will appear that you still have your original phone, and will avoid charges for a replacement phone.

As a cell phone retailer for 15 years I can say all of these answers are correct. So (as usual ) I can only add more content.
Cell phones cost 200 dollars or more. (ones for contract plans). It is not advisable and technically not politically correct to buy a Go Phone and use the Sim card from your wet phone. Trying to find a torx tip to fit the cell phone to take it apart is tricky. Not even Radio Shack has those. No reputable repair facility will touch a wet phone. Phone replacement outside of contract and legal rebates is 200 plus. Yoiu get the phones cheap for starting the service or upgrading. Your free phone cost the store where you got it 200 dollars. Good luck

Let it dry for 24-72 hours. If it doesn't work then try again but this time take out the battery. If it still doesn't work then put the cell phone on some aerogel or some towel or some rice or some wheat. I'd prefere the aerogel but those are hard to find.

I had a friend who did that. She fixed it by putting it in the oven at like 150 degrees for 20 minutes. She said it worked so give it a try. It can't hurt anything and you may have to buy a new phone anyhow.

Take it appart (EVERYTHING, battery, back of phone) Then lay it down, and take a blowdryer on low and run it across it a couple times. Sometimes that works ( I sell cellphones). Then once you have done that then leave the phone to dry out for acouple days.

My friend dropped his in the swimming pool, so what we did is took it home let the battery out and used a blow dryer, and it worked fine. Some buttons might be slow either keep blow drying it or let it sit. It will be fine!

doesn't say what kind of phone.
However, anything manufactured after 1980, i would say the best thing is throw it away and buy a new one. Especially if it is a cell phone.
Seriously.
