Yes we had one right up until about 1968. we had indoor plumbing also by that time, but the outhouse was still there If we were outside playing and "had to go" it was closer than trying to make it all the way back to the house. (it was about 200 feet away).
We had several friends who lived out in the boonies that had outhouses....

Yes and it was the nastiest thing in the world! True Story...I was at a carnival one night and one of the "carnies" must have been caught steeling money from the ticket box office thingy and one of the big guys that runs the carnival took that little carnie into the outhouse(portapotty) and shoved his head and shoulders all the way in there! Gross...I bet he'll remember that the next time he tries to rip someone off!!

I used them and only them for two weeks straight this summer.
I did take a two year break from outhouses when I was 12 though because I was scared rats were gonna crawl out of the crap and onto me.

saddly enough, I have used an outhouse... when I was very small, my family lived in an old house that had been my grandparents house and it didn't have a bathroom... we only lived there for a short time until our house was being built but for a small child, going out in the dead of night to an old, rickety building, out in a field when you have to go really badly can be very traumatizing.. and to the person who worked in the fields and gathered eggs and milked cows and tended to the garden, I also had to do those things... along with gathering and stacking firewood. good times.

I used to dig outhouse holes. I Helped install the plumbing when I was a teenager and my parents moved us to a house that didn't have ANY amenities such as plumbing or electricity. We cooked on a wood stove and later installed solar panels.

Yes, when I was a kid. I had to take a stick and bang it around the inside of the seat to "scare anything away." Kinda hard to relax with my mind envisioning "things" that might want to get me at my most vulnerable moment in my most tender of places.

Thousands of times, when I was growing up in a third world country without indoor toilets and running water...What's it to you? I've also used them since in other foreign countries, sometimes in the US when camping or in the boonies.

Yes, camping. Not a big deal for a day or 2 as long as the weather isn't too hot or too cold.

yes, about 28 years ago at a farm house outside a little town in Georgia where some distant elderly relatives of mine lived. It was scary and stinky.
