Im quite sure the asker know its in response for cuteness.
As to why guys should care instead of leaving girls alone?
It starts with "Awww"
Then they start adopting stray animals because they cant watch them starve.
Then that leads to cat fur all over your house.
Then the poor guy has cat allergies and now the woman has to choose between cats or the guy.
They cant decide and break down crying and the guy, while sneezing, has to spend time finding homes for each kitty. but its too late because 3 females were pregnant and 20 baby kittens are born.
Woman goes " Aww.. can we keep one, pwweaassse??!?!" to the guy thats gagging on the floor because his throat swelled up.
No, no going Aww, I cant take it.

You are sooooooo right...that is such a bad habit of mine...BUT I just can't stop. My husband won't take me to the pet's store anymore-he is like how the heck are you gonna awwwww a snake?

I say it 4 these three reasons and i think many other girls do also:
1. Good habit (lol)
2. We think that it sounds cute & appealing
3. We say it when somthing is cute, or adorable or when somone did something really nice.

maybe cause we are trying not to pass out insults, awwwwwwwww gives us time to think of a better answerer
or we find someones baby to be ugly and we can only feel sorry for the mom and we say awwwwwwwwwww
or last try awwwwwww can just mean its so cute awwwwww

there's just things that only girls do understand.....girls' stuffs you know. leave 'em or love 'em...your choice. Girls do make the world a more interesting place to live in......AWWWWW!!!!!

females are often more emotional then males and they show their emotion by saying what they are really thinking. Simply put, females wear their emotion on their sleeve as opposed to hiding their emotion or keep it bottled up inside.
