"vain" = without good reason OR self-obsessed (vanity)
"vane" = that pointy thing on the roof that shows which way the wind is blowing

I'm pretty sure it says "vain" and not "vein" Veins are those things that your blood moves around in. Vain is related to Vanity. Here's a relevant definition of vain from webster.com

It is vain, not vein. I be believe it means do not use the name of the lord as a profane word, for example G*0 Damn, or Goooooooood or Jesus. I do not believe that you are supposed to use Gods name unless you are talking to God or about God.
