i would believe the negative hpt only because if you dont perform the pregnancy test correctly, it can show a false positive. if you wait too long to read the results, the pink line will show up. if the box says 'read the test results in 10 minutes' then you need to read it in 10 minutes, not 15 not 20...because the longer the stick sits there, the more likely that it is that the pink line will appear because it will appear anyways over time. if you had a blood test and it has a negative hpt, then that is more accurate as many blood tests are.

I'd ask your doctor! If the positive was from your doctor, I'd be inclined to believe the doctor. Ask for a second one if you need the reassurance.
