Ivy grows very fast and holds slopes back from slipping but it becomes a literal jungle attracting rats and insects because of its depth and shade. Freeway daisys are fast growing and provide big white or purple flowers that are hardy and attractive. I personally like red apple because it has a tight low growing succulent type leaf and a beautiful brilliant fuschia flower. If you have yellow jackets in your neighborhood beware though, they like to make nests in the ground under ground cover so you will need to hang those yellow jacket traps on your trees to keep their populations down.
