CB is stupid.
CB is very stupid.

If you go back in time you'll find that every state was a prick at any given time. The North helped flush out and shoot the Indians,.......Slavery came over under the light of our great leaders way back in the Revolution. The North bought goods off the slave worked farms, New York sold slaves to the South, it goes on and on. The way some idiots have it, the South is the center of hate........which is true but only on Mondays.

The history has formed the region...true, but it is not the hate capital.

Manners were big in the South, you will of course find rude, mean, hairy, and yes sometimes toothless people. The thing that makes up for it is the people that are nice go so overboard it makes up for it. The culture is now a watered down version of how things used to be. Back in the day manners were beaten into kids, and to the most part it still is but to a lesser extreme.

The environment is really a big plus also. People here are happy because of the food, the land, and just the quiet you can find.

If the last guy (gorilla butt? whatever) is a representation of the North I live in, its got to be better.

Everybody here tries to be witty and just something they are not and it comes off stupid. One thing about the South is they do present themselves at face value more often than not. They have a strong belief system that has survived and its not a hodge podge of mixed up urban kids.

I don't agree with all of their beliefs but overall in every visit I have had they are more helpful.

Of course, not ALL Southerners are going to be friendly, but in general, YES, Southern hospitality DOES exist. I live in Atlanta, and learned this when I moved to Houston for a few months for a job assignment, then to New York, & San Francisco. It took me to be away from here to realize that yes, we are nicer and more hospitable to strangers down here in the South.

I'll even give you some examples.
1. When you let a car cut in front of you, the driver of that car usually puts a hand up and waves. NOBODY did that in any of the other places I've been to...they barely let me in their lane.

2. Everyone holds the door open for each other down here. It doesn't matter if you're male or female. If someone is a few steps behind you, you kind of look over your shoulder, pause, and keep the door held open as they're coming in behind you. That person then usually says thank you. 9 out of 10 times. I guarantee it. Again, people in other cities barely acknowledge you even when you're right in front of their faces.

try Zulu's in Leytonstone (tube) or between the Walkabouts, there is one next to Temple Station and one no longer far from Leichester sq.. steer clear of the Aardvark (Rotherhide) except your fluent in Afrikaans, cuase that seems to be like the only language spoken there. Your ultimate guess is to bypass to one in all those pubs whilst SA is enjoying a international Rugby or Cricket tournament, reason many Saffas would be there gazing it on the huge show screen. Zulu's is likewise reliable at showing national and Curry Cup suits.

No.

Think about this - the south had a culture of slavery. How friendly is that?!? Enslaving your fellow man has to be about the rudest and most unfriendly act committed by people.

In 1860, there were 6.4 million free people and 3.7 million slaves living in the south. That is one slave for every 1.7 free people! Incredibly unfriendly. Unless southern mentalities regarding their fellow man have changed 180 degrees (unlikely), the south is extremely unfriendly.

I don't think it depends on north or south but how rural the community is. I live in the country and most all the neighbors are very friendly. In a big city I would guess most people can't even name the neighbors who live within 100 yards and don't really want to meet them.

It doesnt matter what state you live in you are going to find good and bad. I think the South is friendly but so are other states. I am predjudiced though I am from Kentucky. We do have our buttheads. I have also met some not so friendly people in other states.

Sure seems that way to me...I live in the north and everytime I go to the south, the people are not as rude and they seem to be nicer...I think it's the larger cities in the north that are the worst. The rural areas have nice people.

In the Real South, of course we are. In my house when some one comes in the first words out of my mouth "Do ya want something to drink? and do ya want to eat?"
I've ,not by choice, lived in Vermont. Lord, those people are just down right awful!! Spent the worst 6 months of my life there!!
Southern people have more manners, more class, more style, and better food than any Yankee can dream of!
