I would think that the larger speices could scratch or bite, but it would not do much harm. The larva stage of some dragonflies might be able to inflict more damage, one larval from is an aquatic insect that looks like a sea serpent/dragon and has a pair of pincers but they are rather small. Another larval form is the Ant Lion which have a serious set of pincers, but once agian they are not very large. Dragonflies eat small insects which commonly includes mosquitos, so in the end they do more good then harm to us.

Nope adult dragonflies are completely harmless to humans. They have no venom. And they are only dangerous to small insects such gnats and flies for which they prey on them. Though dragonfly nymphs can probably can give a little nip, but nothing serious.

No, they don't bite or sting.

But some grow to the size of a cigar, and they fly up to 60 mph.
If such an insect has his compound eyes on a a juicy insect and you cross it's flight path, YOU'LL FEEL IT.
And the d/f will have a splitting headache if it survives.

No they don't and they are rather cool. Some species live in water for a year or a season and then hatch from the water and fly around for up to two weeks.

The big ones (about 6 inches long head to tail) can hurt when they land on your bare skin. They're not deliberately hurting you, it's just that their claws are grabbing onto your skin.

I had a giant one land on my arm a few years ago. No broken skin or bleeding. It just hurt.

Depends on if it lands on your bare skin it hurts but if it doesn't they're harmless.

Not unless you're a small flying insect! They eat tons of skeeters and gnats.

And their nymphs (young) eat tons of mosquito larvae in the water.

They can bite, but it isn't poisonous or anything and it is extremely rare. They can fly so fast and quick that they just "run" from us.
