I just bought Proactiv Solution. I'm starting to worry whether your skin might get dependent on it to the point you have to use it even after teenhood?

(I don't want to use it forever)

And could you skip a day or two? Will skipping days risk breakouts?

your skin won't become dependant on it. and dont worry about skipping a day. just remember it is really important to wash your face so don't skip too much. or if you are feeling lazy don't worry about entire process just do the fash wash thing. this is from personal experience:)

I bought Proactiv after seeing it on T.V. It didn't work any better for me than Clearasil or Neutrogena. You can skip a day, but I wouldn't go more than a day without using it. Just be sure that you follow the healthy eating habits that they recommend in the little book that they give you. Your skin does not get dependant on it, but the thing is that it only works as long as you use it. If you stop using it for a long period of time, it will stop working. After teenhood your skin should clear up and if it doesn't, see a dermatologist. If you're seriously worried that your skin will get dependant on it, talk to a doctor or dermatologist about it because they will be able to predict what will happen to your skin after using Proactiv. I hope this helps! Good luck with your skin! =)

I've used the product on and off for 5 years now. Don't worry about "skin-dependency" there really is no such thing.

Do I believe that you can take a break from it every once and awhile YES! But don't due it if you are in the middle of a breakout or when you think you're about to get one.

Actually I personally think it does, I used to use it and my skin got a little better but I couldn't use it every single day so whenever I would stop using it I would start breaking out like crazy. So what I do now is use different stuff, all oil-free, like different cleansers, masks, toners, exfoliators etc. My skin looks great and clean now. Good luck
PS: Try going to Sephora store, they have a lot of great skin care stuff, and for acne only use oil-free stuff, because the oils is what clogs your pores which then turns into pimples.

I bought the generic brand at walmart and it didn't work for my daughter. of course she didn't use it like she should have. She seems to like Noxzema the best.
After reading all the answers to this question, I would guess that It may not be worth the money. If you have it to blow try it, but in the long run testing is going to be your success. They also have this natural pill you take that is suppose to clear acne from the inside out. haven't tried that so I don't know.
Remember stress is an additional cause of acne.

no your skin cant get addicted to the cleanser. your hormones fluxuate and so will your sebacious glands. when i started using proactive i bought the whole package and used as directed. at first my skin started looking great, then it got much worse than it was before proactive. so i quit using it and about 1-2 weeks later, i started back but only using it once a day and not the whole kit, just the cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. now my face is awesome, i have no complaints.

no, my sister and i used to use proactiv...it works, believe me. your skin doesnt get too dependant on it or anything, it may dry out your skin a little bit, but just use lotion to take care of that.
and skipping a day or two i dont think will make that much of a difference, but you do have to use it religiously untill your skin is clear.
proactiv is the way to go!

Noooo you wont get dependent on it.. its almost like any other acne treatment out there!! I skip a day or 2, wash my face and its like i never even skipped a day!!!! if you dont have time for the 3 step treatment, you can put on the lotion, then sunscreen or w.e... if you have bad breakouts then i dont think you should skip a day

I do not know where you are living, however many shops now have kiosks promoting Proactiv. I buy it at the mall and don't need to pay delivery. Go to the internet site for shops for your discipline and spot if the industry is listed. They do not let you know on the internet site considering they want you to pay shipping.
