Because the people that were screaming global warming were screaming global cooling just a mere 25 years ago. They claimed that by 2006 the planet would be under almost ice age conditions and that we would die of starvation since we wouldn't be able to grow crops.

So people called their bluff... so now they changed it to climate change as opposed to global warming.

Maybe it had something to do with Al Gore giving a speech on Global Warming on the coldest day in New York.

Al wrote a book on global warming some time ago. "Earth in the Balance"

Art Bell and Whitley Strieber also wrote a book about global climate change a long time ago. "The Coming Global Superstorm."

Al made a movie called An Inconvenient Truth

Roland Emmerich made Art and Whitely's book into a movie "The Day After Tomorrow"

Al sold quite a few books.

Art and Whitley sold a lot of books.

Al's movie made several million dollars

Roland's movie made several hundred million dollars

In Roland's movie, the New York froze over.
Not many people know what happened in Al's movie.

There is scientific evidence to show Global Warming and there is scientific evidence to show Global Cooling.

It does appear that parts of the Earth are getting hotter, but it really seems that the Earth's weather patterns are becoming more extreme.

Or at least the coverage is getting more extreme. With 4011 channels on the television competing with the internet, those who want attention just have to scream to try to be heard above the noise.

I don't know, but if Al tries to run for President on this issue again, someone should write in Art and Whitley for President and Vice-President. Instead of showing us his heart surgery scars like other vice presidents, Whitley could show us his alien probe scars. Or not. Sure would be an amusing little presidential campaign.

I believe it's because if the media beats "global warming" into us, and it cools down, it's obvious they're wrong and/or lying and/or selling us a lot of crap.

If they call it "global climate change" no matter what the change, warm, cold, or anything, they are right and they can continue to badger the public into new cars, "green" policies, giant research budgets, and anything else they want to make a buck.

No matter what, the environment is not a static, long-term stable state. It will always change whether humans are here or not. A scared public is one that's easy to control and one quick to give away power.

It is believed by many experts now that Global Warming is a natural event in the earths cycles and not caused by man. Regardless of how it happens, a great many will probably die before it's over. Some even say it will end in Global Freezing.

Because the majority of the real experts believe global warming is due to Climate change.

Because 'global warming' implies things are getting warmer everywhere but otherwise staying about the same. The increase in average temperature is causing a rapid shift of weather patterns. Farmland becoming desert, deserts becoming tropical paradises, glaciers melting, etc.

Because whether it is a long term warming trend or not, there is a noticeable shift in climatological patterns, and a change in the want natural climate cycles operate.

So the latter term is more precise, and less open to scientific debate.

It's because the overall trend of warming is causing other climate change: typhoons/hurricanes, drought, flooding. The concepts are interrelated and interchangeable.

Warming makes it seem that humans have something to do with it... climate change sounds like a nature driven thing.....

they are trying to make it sound politically correct....
