Classically a signature is on the bottom right where it's usually out of the way. But I never sign anything, it ruins the painting in my opinion.

is there a rule that says where to sign the painting?

i say don't sign it at all, or incorporate the signature into the painting, so you can only see it if you're looking for it.

I sign my work on the back. It doesn't matter which side you sign your work, but the signature should not detract or over-power the piece, it should be intergrated as much as possible with the piece.

Anyone I have ever come to see is bottom right, but I'm not sure why or if that is 100% correct.

Why not be creative and put it where ever you want, if anywhere at all? Fight the power!!!

It varies. Most use lower-right thanks to tradition, but some use lower left. But 90 percent are lower right.
