Well, one reason is none of the "straight" people would show up for interview or reseach center. They are busy fucing.

Its amazing that after 20 years since the start of this disease, the general public still knows nothing. Actually, what the heck do I know, I've heard some outlandish stuff on the subject. The lowdown is that back in the day, and in the gay community, the disease that was in full force was hepatitis. Treatment for Hep. was blood transfusions. They did some research and traced the first recorded case to a male flight attendent who was a busy fellow in his travels. So now the stuff gets to spread and into a community that knows nothing of its existence and bodily fluids are traded liberally. They say he might have caught it in Africa, studies have shown some primates(real monkies) with a similar virus. The virus itself also resembles a bovine (cow) virus. So, the connection. A group suffering from something, get to spread something else they don't know exists and next thing you know, they're tagged for the whole thing. Funny thing is that a lot of dope shooters got it too, because they were swapping needles and cross-contaminating themselves. I've read reports of some hookers in parts of Africa that were researched due to the fact that they were some of the original contaminated, and they show no signs of full blown aids, but are HIV carriers. They can carry the virus without developing the full disease. In Africa now, its out of hand and spreading like wildfire. Due to all this, some say its a little too suspicious for this virus to pop up so readily developed with its ingenious and devastating camoflage defense without it not being man-made! Some say it developed from vaccines given to cows and then monkies eating the carcass after the cows died and the monkies actually made the virus mutate into something we got. others believe its was a biological weapon that got out of the lab. But the truth is, no one knows. All are victims, just like the hundreds of patients that got it in hospitals thru blood transfusions.

Research shows that HIV also spread widly in the largely straight intraveinous drug using community, as well. The similarity that these two communities share is that there is alot of body fluid and blood contact shared between many people. Drug addicts share needles, gays(moreso back in the day, were promiscuos and didnt use protection). I want to stress that I am gay also, and dont believe it is a punishment from God or anything else.

Because anal sex is more likely to cause tiny tears in the lining of the rectum (versus vagina of heterosexual sex) because it's not as moist, can be more vigorous, and because of the lesser use of condoms. Heterosexuals however are just as likely to become infected with HIV/AIDS as a homosexual person; heterosexuals are not more or less susceptible to the disease.

My doctor friend tells me that the membranes of the rectum are much thinner and easier to damage than the membranes of the vagina. This is why aids can be spread by heterosexual acts, but is much more easily spread by homosexual acts.

Homosexual people don't sleep with straight people, so how can it get into the straight community?

Most likely, women were more likely to use condoms for protection against pregnancy, and thus got protection against AIDS too, while men weren't worried about pregnancy so they didn't use protection.
