This is a far fetched question, but can you help me remember the name of a kid's film from the early 80's?

When I was little, my brother and I would get up very early Christmas morning. A few years (around 1981-1983?) there was a puppet movie on that had a boy who was trying to make it to his grandmother's house for Christmas. Along the way some bullies stole his hat. That's all I remember.We adored it and I am curious what it was. Any suggestion? It was not a cartoon. All puppets.I don't think it was the Muppets.

There were no animal puppets, so I don't think it was the Muppets. There were just kid puppets and a grandma puppet. I don't recall any music in it.

I am going to take a wild guess at this because it was one of my favorites around the holidays.......Emmet Otters Jug Band Christmas. It probably isn't but do you remember this one?
