over charging ANY battery is never a good idea. Once the battery is charged, unplug it when you turn it off.
And always, always use a surge protector.

There might be some that state rechargable batteries should never be left plugged into the charger due to damage. A lot of the newer laptops have a trickle-charge feature which makes it safe to keep plugged in. They did that because a lot of people keep their laptops plugged into docking stations, to prevent over-charge damage.

It's odd that everyone says it's okay, I heard it's better to charge and discharge your laptop battery instead of plugging it in constantly. I used to do it and now my laptop struggles to survive for an hour while on batteries. Maybe it's just outdated.

I have left mines plugged in for about a month now and it's fine. Buut I don't think it wastes energy because there is no output, so the circuit is not compleate.

Leave it plugged in as long as you want.
Modern Lituium Ion batteries do NOT need to be "refreshed" like the old Ni-Cads did.

Yeah, but not all the time. Moderation in all things. A few days or so is fine. Watch out for thunderstorms that can cause power surges.

Make sure you have a screen saver or else if you always have some windows -- example like Yahoo chat in one position on the screen, the screen might get a permanent mark. (which can be seen even when machine is off. )

It should not be a problem unless you experience shutdown due to overheating. Of course it that is happening you need to have the cause checked out because overheating can harm the computer
