Yes,a lot of dogs will hunt mice. My gsd finds mice nests in the grass in summer and he will eat any baby mice he finds. Just be careful that there is no poison mouse bait in the vicinity as if a dog eats a mouse that has taken bait it could be fatal. Dogs also hunt rats so the same caution applies.

It is nothing to worry about, just something your dog happens to like. Every dog is different just like people's likes and dislikes are different. Thats good because maybe your dog will keep your home free of mice.

Did your dog grow up around a bunch of cats? Maybe he thinks this is normal. Don't discourage him, at least he keeps the mice away.

Simply to play.... If you take some time off and run around the house with him - he will stop chasing mice and will get used to chasing you when he wants to play!!!
Seriously, dont let him EAT the mice - I am sure cats can digest and also stay immune to all diseases that mice carry - but I dont know about dogs!!!

Because he can! I would discourage my dog from biting mice, especially when they are carriers of any number of diseases.
If your dog has toy mice, it sounds like you've conditioned him to do exactly what you're complaining about.

It is probably in the breed of dog you have. Some were bred to catch mice. They don't call them rat terriers for nothing.

Some dogs were bred specifically to hunt rodents. Look up the history of your dog's breed and it might answer some questions about his behavior.
