I meant to end the auction then pick the winner from the people who had emailed me but it went ahead and immeditely ended to the high bidder! I had a offer for $40 and I sold for $7!! Can I cancel the sell???
It was suppose to let me choose the winner at least that is what it said in the help content. It didn't but instead just ended to the current high bidder!!!
I arn't trying to sell outside of ebay just to the ebay menber who offered to buy for the amount we agreed on

Next time read the rules. You are legally obligated to sell to the highest bidder, but I doubt he'll sue to complete the transaction. E-mail him and explain the mistake, if that don't work than take the bad feedback. Next time put the disclaimer that you reserve the right to end the auction early as it is for sale locally. And by definition, you are selling outside of e-bay by bypassing the posting rates. besides the basic posting fee, you pay a percentage of the selling price. So instead of $40 dollar fee structure your paying $7.

You cannot legally cancel the auction after the bidding has ended. Although, some people will email the winning buyer and tell them that they lost the item (or some other stupid excuse) and I mean, what can they say? I'm not suggesting that you do this or anything...you'd probably end up with neg feedback and a strike against you. I'd suggest you read ebay's policy & maybe try reasoning with the buyer if you seriously don't want to sell to them. Also, be careful about selling to people outside of ebay...it's very easy to get burned. Hope this helps!

Sorry, but you are obligated to that person on ebay! The only way out is if you and the buyer agree to cancel the sale ! If the buyer agrees , then you have nothing to worry about! If not they may leave you a negative feedback! (No biggie) happens to the best of us! If the buyer is really mad , they can report the item not received! A strike can go to your account and you will then have to appeal! Next time try a buy it now option or put a reserve on the item! That way you are not obligated to sell for less than what you are asking!

That isn't how ebay works...the highest bidder is supposed to win it. You can get bad feedback and a low rating if they complain, maybe even kicked out if you do this too much.
Suck it up and take the loss...do it right the next time.

You can't you have to sell it to the highest bidder and if you want to sell it to the person who offered $40 you need to contact the highest bidder and tell them what happened.the highest bidder could leave you a neg for selling a item you already sold.I seen it happen many times.

Cancelling to bypass ebay fees is fraud and will get you barred from it. Contacting a seller behind ebay's back to avoid fees will also get you barred. They are both unethical. You put it up for bid and high bidder won. Hold up your end.

You shouldn't do it, The highest should win. Just be carefull not to "break" it before you send it. In that case, you would have to contact the winning bidder and apologize that you cant send it.
