I need music from the north and south from the civil war. I'm doing a big comparison essay and presentation about it. Thanks!

Check out www.civilwarmusicstore.com
If you are anywhere near an historic site from the Civil War, see if they have a gift shop. Many of the national and state historic sites have shops with books and music.

Try the soundtrack from the Ken Burn's documentary "The Civil War". It's got a ton of good music from that era on it. The beautiful theme music was actually kind of an up-tempo tune until someone got the idea to play it slow, and it was so sad and expressed the mood of the show so well that they used it.
