1.Naming Your Site: Selecting and Registering a Domain Name : The first step in getting a web site is to select and register your domain name. This can be done for under USD 7 to 10 a year (eg, namecheap.com).

2.Web Hosting Costs: It may start from USD 10 to 15000 depending on your requirements.

3.About Free Web Hosting Companies: We do not advise the use of free web hosting companies. This is your professional online presence and you get what you pay for. More often than not, free host companies have limitations such as space, email specifications, domain name use, et cetera, that won't allow you to operate as a professional site.

4.Budget how Much Should You Pay A Content Developer or a designing firm?

The easiest way to build a website if all you're going to use it for is journalling is to join a blog subscription service. A blog is a web+log=blog. A log is a journal. There are many free ones: blogger, myspace.com has a blog, Yahoo! 360 is a blog, blogsplot has them...they are numerous.

To build a website on the other hand...free sites are freewebs.com and geocities (a Yahoo! service, too). You can use Word, Publisher, PowerPoint or FrontPage to create the site. Those programs have built in html templates and tools for you to use. Then after you have your content organized, you save as a .web file. Then you need domain registration. Then you need web hosting. Then you need an .ftp client to upload your site. Then you're online, baby! Ace FTP is my favorite free ftp provider. The hosting and registration are gonna cost you anywhere from $1 - $39 typically, but could cost as much as $1000 or more depending on what you wanna do with your site. I've made webs all under $50 total cost and have blogs for free.

Best wishes

One of my favorite sites when I was learning to build my website was here:

I still visit to see how people like me that didn't know a lot built successful sites. You will find good ideas how you might take your interest of a diary website and build a niche that could realistically be monetized.

If you are looking to do an actual diary, definitely agree with others the way to go would be to use a blog. They are free and I have one at http://www.blogger.com

It is a journal of my progress building my website;

Go to yahoo's geocities.com and sign up for a free wb site. There site building program will help you create one. They probably have a "blog" template (geek name for a diary website). If not, just pick one that you like the colors and pictures on it, and add your diary as the text.

webspace. But to do just a diary, a blog is your best bet.. you could set one up at blogspot, or use the yahoo 360 blog.
