Wouldn't be the president, unless I were appointed to the job. Partisan politics divides. I'm for unity, not division.
No; I wouldn't; this world isn't the end of it all; death is just the transition to the next existence. Ain' no biggie. What goes around comes around. Vengeance is God's. They would get theirs; but, if I had a hand in it, then, I would have to pay.
I believe in ACTing, not REacting. I'm not responsible for the sins of my neighbor--only my OWN sins.
All this world's politics is just children's play. Mankind is on the verge of growing up; then, he'll put his childish wars away, then we'll have peace; but, first, he'll have to be brought to his knees. We never look up (at God) 'til we're lying flat on our backs.
Hope he does't hit the button.

Back in 1983, I had this question come up in my University Course on Nuclear War.
To the dismay of the hawks in the class, I said no, I wouldn't push the button.
My reasoning....what would be the point?? The 100 mirved missiles already inbound would plunge the world into nuclear winter.
And I wouldn't want to go to my maker with the blood of a billion Chinese on my hands.

Yes, but it would be a limited retaliation aimed specifically at key military and political targets, not a general attack against the entire population.
The reason for that would be to leave them in a basically defenseless position that others could go in with conventional forces and defeat them, while minimizing the loss of innocents, and hopefully preventing the end of the human race.

First I would be sure that NORAD had launched the intercepts. And ...you can pretty much count on me retaliating. When I was done with China there would be no strength left in them for an invasion of the US. I will fight for my country.

China's population would suffer more from the radioactive dust and nuclear winter than if we nuked them outright. I think I would have to at least hit Beijing though.

Yes... well let's see, they are attacking the US and even though it is over for the US, at least let peace and freedom ring some place else. There will be survivors but the US will never be the powerhouse it is ever again

No, there's no winner in that situation. 100 nuclear bombs is going to destroy us anyways. Seems kind of senseless to me. Besides, that kind of nuclear explosion would probably mean the end of human existence anyways.
