Uh, research yes, the way they want to do it no.
Stem Cells can be found in adults and can be used for research.
Stem cells are repair cells, they are found all throughout the adult human body and can be harvested from adults for the same research. There is no need to harvest embryos for this purpose.
Also, stem cell research and its benefits is a theory, there is no proof it will cure the diseases people say it will.
Lastly, these same cells are in the cord blood of new borns, why not save those for research instead of tossing the blood into a biohazard bag, there are plenty of babies born every day that could donate their cord blood to science.
So i guess i am not against stem cell research but am aganist growing and harvesting embryos for it.

Cloning could be problematic.
In vegetables, there are issues of whether newer varieties have side effects that cause possible disease.
In animals, the big issue being discussed is whether a human being will eventually be cloned, and what that means about the new way of living that will emerge.
Stem cell research could be highly valuable in treating certain rare disease if the scientists were allowed to use many lines instead of just the mandated few allowed by law.
I believe, given more time, stem cell research will be given more of a green light seeing how many victims of rare diseases are catching attention with our elected officials.
I hope my generalization of these questions has given you some insight into this new and hihgly controversial area.

I do NOT believe in cloning, but I do think that we should allow some stem cell research in order to help cure diseases. I think it just shows Bush's stupidity that he vetoed that bill. He thinks that it's OK to make babies out of stem cells when we have millions of babies all over the world in orphanages and foster homes that need loving, permanent homes to go to. But instead of endorsing adoption, he's endorsing creation. Let's just add more children! Way to go Bush! Screw the people who can't walk from neurological diseases and the people dying everyday of cancer, no, we need more test tube babies! He's such an idiot.
